Education Related-17, 給台灣的年輕研究生之建議(特別是臉書友們)

Many students work on their research projects without in depth literature survey and much reading in advance. This may be a dangerous thing and form a treacherous trend. Young generation grew up in an abundant environment tends to do things as they please, and are ignorant of the fact that availability of resources can be hampered by their behaviors, including their own times.
所以在台灣:年輕人說只要我高興,有什麼不可以?年紀大的,只好,只要我還可以,什麼我都高興了。
Creativity comes from much and nonstop reading followed by selective and careful digestion, finally in depth thinking and precise planning and execution. The process may have to be repeated in a cyclic way till success is achieved.
Arbitrary choosing a research subject or simply picking one assigned by mentor, or major professor, without knowing much about the goal, essence and possible effect of it, will hinder the true research talent that may hidden in you.
In the try-and-error stage, since understanding of the research is so incomplete, the semi-ignorant researcher may have wasted much resources which may be from public fund sources, such as tax payer's money.
So, for the scientists-to-be in Taiwan, I would rather advice you all to do your possibly good work in a right and integrated way.
